Story
Photographed on 15 October 2008, the image presents an eye-level view of Kawagoe’s Kurazukuri traditional warehouse-style commercial district. The row of dark wooden and plaster-fronted buildings features ornate gray ceramic roof tiles, carved roof details, lattice windows, display windows, Japanese characters on signs and entrance curtains, and red-and-white fabric banners. The scene is part of the Kawagoe Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings and shows Ichibangai Street under soft daylight and scattered clouds.
