Story
Captured in September 2011, the image looks across an open rocky basin or passage toward layered sandstone outcrops and a broad rugged ridge. A tall narrow spire anchors the left side of the composition, while flat slabs, gravel, eroded channels, and sparse low shrubs extend across the foreground. Bright direct sunlight brings out rust-red, terracotta, orange, and salmon tones in the rock.
