Description
A traditional gassho-zukuri house stands beside a shallow pond in Ogimachi, Shirakawa Village, Gifu Prefecture. The detailed wooden facade, stone embankment, surrounding vegetation, forested hills, and partly cloudy spring sky create a distinctive rural village scene.
Story
Captured in spring, the photograph presents the house from across the pond at a slightly low, frontal viewpoint. Its steep layered thatch, dark wooden siding, triangular gable, sliding window panels, and projecting entrance structure are clearly visible. A stone embankment and leafy plants line the foreground, while wooded hills and additional wooden buildings extend across the background. The location is Ogimachi, part of the protected Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama cultural property in Gifu Prefecture.
