Story
Captured on 9 October 2012, the image looks across the deeply eroded canyon system from the West Rim Trail in Dead Horse Point State Park. The winding greenish Colorado River leads through the lower canyon, while red-brown cliffs, mesas, sandstone ledges, sparse vegetation, and a distant flat-topped plateau extend across the scene. Bright diffuse daylight and thin high clouds preserve the natural textures and broad autumn landscape.
